@Kerry – Thanks for taking a look at my site, I appreciate it! Sorry your mom hasn’t been buying you Etsy presents – Etsy’s got a lot of cool stuff! I don’t use PayPal every time I buy from Etsy. Sometimes I’ll just click on the credit card option and say that I don’t have a PayPal account and I don’t put in my password. Then I fill out my credit card information and complete my order. I don’t know if your mom would find this useful, but it might be worth a try!

@Tiffany & Kerry – I haven’t heard anything yet that says Etsy’s Direct Checkout is great. The sellers I’ve spoken to seem to have mixed feelings about having it around. Some refuse to set it up, seeing it as yet another Etsy fee to pay, and others went ahead and set it up as another option. Not sure if anyone likes it, though. I would LOVE to find out what the buyers think!

Such great advice Holly! My mom has not bought me presents off of Etsy because of Paypal and having to remember a password.

@colleen – I hope you find someone to help you with the checkout process for you!

@marquina – cute site! I am not familiar with Store Envy so I would definitely have someone go through the checkout process for you!

@tiffany – I have not used the direct checkout on Etsy yet. Let me ask around to see if people have found it easier!

I know I’ve had a few customers confused about the checkout process and I’ve been teetering with the idea of activating direct checkout with Etsy but haven’t heard if it makes the process easier for customers. I’d love to hear if anyone has had experience with this.

Great article! I, too, have had Etsy checkout issues. I guess they are still working on the checkout solution, but as a buyer, I’m still a bit confused by their process. (As a seller…don’t let me get started, lol!)

I always wonder why they don’t check out other processes that work in other online stores and do what the other user-friendly stores do.

Recently, I started a store on Storenvy.com. It’s been a few months, and I’ve pinged and Facebook’d, but have yet to see purchases. I am wondering if it has anything to do with the purchasing process. I like your advice about getting a close friend or family member to go through the process and take notes where they would give up the process. I’ll try that and see what I find out…
