@julieanna - I love the organizing space in the photo too! It can be so nice to see everything you need to work with!
@emily - I love waking up to a clean home too! It is nice to know that I couple of minutes one day can have such a positive impact on the next day :)
@roxana - Going slow will be a good idea since you have a newborn! I have two boys and one is a toddler so we clean up right before my husband gets home and then I try to do it again after they are asleep so I can either work or relax in peace. I think the biggest thing is that you have a list so that will help you get things done!

Good luck on your cleaner spaces + extra time!

Thanks for the great info. It's actually very encouraging to me because I am currently on a mission to "get my house back" which includes my work/creative space. Contrary to my Gemini nature I made a list of every room in my house and then I broke each one down into a more detailed list of what I want to accomplish. I only focus on a couple of "room details" at a time so that I don't get overwhelmed. I try to do one or two things from the list everyday and then I have the wonderful satisfaction of crossing it off my list. With 3 kids (one of them a newborn) I've also learned not to beat myself up if I don't do something for a day. Slowly though, things are coming together and I'm feeling more energy and relief at being that much more organized. :)

Wow! Such a simple philosophy, but one we just don't think about! I am heading straight into my workroom to do my bit for today, then tomorrows work will come much easier, I am sure! Thanks, Shelley, for the inspiration!
PS I love the wooden organising space in the picture. I am gonna get OH to make me one to replace a cumbersome cabinet! Thanks again! xx

Great ideas everyone! It feels so good to wake up in the morning to a tidier space. I am no way a neat freak either but I love how doing a little everyday makes things so much easier. Thanks for reading!

LOVE this! I am by no means a neat freak and always love hearing tips about how to get mor organized. I started doing a little each day while I was pregnant with my second son and loved how the house looked everyday. It made it much easier to be productive when I was there. Since that baby was born I find myself to be a little more tired and really appreciate this post to remind me of how much more creative will feel when I attend to a little bit each day. After I read this post yesterday I made a point of getting things ready on Sunday night for Monday morning and definitely had a better morning because of it! Thank you so much Shelly!

@Erika - Good work on cleaning up before the post office! Otherwise you are tired when you get back and don't feel like doing it then.
@Sarah - I am going to start using this 10 seconds or less philosophy around my house!
@Aneta - I have a real filing cabinet and it definitely has made my life better. It is such a good feeling to have a place to put that paperwork!

Very inspiring reads :) .I feel like I need to start organizing right away ! I love filing cabinets, really need to get a proper one. I have couple filing cardboard cases that I got from Target.I like them since they are easy to carry from room to room, and size wise, it's easy to fit them in closet or under the table. But I feel like I got enough paper work to fill up a real cabinet at this point.

Definitely doing a little each day will help. I have also heard/read if you can do it in 10 seconds or less do it then rather than waiting for later. That can especially work for filing a paper or getting rid of junk mail. Great info and advice that will for sure help me in my creatively messy studio!

Doing a bit everyday is something I have to keep in mind or I get overwhelmed. After a large order or just a busy day, the room becomes a mess of paper, tissue paper, tape, ribbon, and tools left out. If I take the time to put things up before I head to the post office, and put them up where they belong, then the process is easier.

And I like coming home and seeing the room waiting for more creativity!
